Q. How many photos am I allowed to upload?

A. There is no limitation in the number of photos you upload, or the storage space required to store your photos. You can access up to 100 photos of your own photos from the iPhone application. If you want to access older photos, you need to use a regular web browser.

Q. How can I access my photos from a regular web browser?

A. First, you need to register your e-mail address from the PhotoShare application. When you do it, you’ll get a notification e-mail from the server, which tells you how to establish a password - so that you can log-in from a regular browser as well.

Q. What am I supposed to do when I see inappropriate photos?

A. Please let us know by going to the details page of that photo, and click the “X” at the bottom to notify us about those inappropriate photos.

Q. I have a concern about security. If I am uploading photos can I restrict who sees the photos? With the use of the geotagging I am concerned about who will see my family’s photos.

A. Making PhotoShare a safe and secure environment is our No.1 goal. Please notice that there is a permission setting associated with each photo (four buttons above the picture on the publishing/details page), which allows you to control who can access your photos.

  • Private - Only you can access it
  • Family - Only family members can access it
  • Friends - Only your friends can access it
  • Public - Anybody in the world can access it

If you are uploading photos of your family members, and you want to make it sure that only your family members can access them, please choose “Family” when you upload (you can change the setting later from the details page). Then, those people who you’ve explicitly invited as family members (select Family->Invite… from the main menu) can access those photos.

Regarding the geo-tag, we have explicitly chosen NOT to store those geo-tags along with those photos because of the security concern.

Q. I’ve got a comment from somebody, and would like to see the list of photos she/her has posted. What am I supposed to do to see them?

A. There is not convenient way to do it under the very first version (version 1.00), and we are adding a feature in version 1.01, which will be released soon. Under version 1.01, you can just tap a comment and the list of photos posted by that person will open.

Q. I found a good photo in the “Recent Photo” section. Is there any easy way to see the list of all the photos posted by the same person.

A. Version 1.00 does not have that capability, and we are adding that feature in version 1.01, which will be released soon.

Q. What the difference between friends and follow?

A. “Follow” simply allows you to conveniently access somebody’s public photos from your “Shared Photo” section. “Friend” allows you and your friend to share photos that are not accessible to public. If you want to share some photos with your friends, but not with the rest of world, make it sure that you select “Friends” when you post a photo from PhotoShare. Unlike “Follow”, the “Friend” relationship requires a mutual agreement. One person needs to send an invite via e-mail, and another person needs to accept.

Q. Why do I need to send an invite via e-mail become “friends”?

A. This is for security purpose, especially to protect children from strangers. As we mentioned above, establishing allows users to share some photos that are not accessible to public. We believe that this level of photo sharing is appropriate to people who already know each others e-mail address.

Q. How can I follow somebody?

A. Go to the details page of one of his/her photo, and turn on the switch next to “Add follow to {somebody}”. Unlike “friends”, you don’t need any permission from the other person.
